Energy Gap in Superconducting Fullerides: Optical and Tunneling Studies.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tunneling and optical transmission studies have been performed on superconducting samples of Rb3C60. At temperatures much below the superconducting transition temperature Tc, the energy gap is 2D 5.2 6 0.2 meV, corresponding to 2DykBTc 4.2. The low temperature density of states and the temperature dependence of the optical conductivity resemble BCS behavior, although there is an enhanced “normal state” contribution. The results indicate that this fulleride material is an s-wave superconductor, but the superconductivity cannot be described in the weak coupling limit. [S0031-9007(96)01588-8]

We study the transport of electrons in a graphene NSN structure in which two normal regions are connected by a superconducting strip of thickness d. Within Dirac-Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations we describe the transmission through the contact in terms of different scattering processes consisting of quasiparticle cotunneling, local and crossed Andreev reflections. Compared to a fully normal stru...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Phonon Spectrum Emitted by Superconducting AI-Tunneling Junctions at High Quasiparticle Injection Rates
The phonon spectrum emitted by superconducting Al-tunneling junctions is analyzed by experiments, in which two junctions of different energy gaps are used as phonon generator and detector. The energy gap of the Al-films is varied by the evaporation conditions. The experiments show clearly that the phonon spectrum and the quasiparticle distributions in the generator are strongly nonthermal and d...
متن کاملEffect of time reversal symmetry breaking on the density of states in small superconducting grains
We show that in ultrasmall superconducting grains any concentration of magnetic impurities or infinitely small orbital effect of magnetic field leads to destruction of the hard gap in the tunneling density of states, and find analytically the exponential tail at low energies. Thus, the tunneling density of states exhibits the "soft gap" behavior. As the energy approaches zero, it vanishes linea...
متن کاملMeasurement of a sign-changing two-gap superconducting phase in electron-doped Ba(Fe(1-x)Co(x))2As2 single crystals using scanning tunneling spectroscopy.
Scanning tunneling spectroscopic studies of Ba(Fe(1-x)Co(x))(2)As(2) (x=0.06, 0.12) single crystals reveal direct evidence for predominantly two-gap superconductivity. These gaps decrease with increasing temperature and vanish above the superconducting transition T(c). The two-gap nature and the slightly doping- and energy-dependent quasiparticle scattering interferences near the wave vectors (...
متن کاملSize and symmetry of the superconducting gap in the f.c.c. Cs3C60 polymorph close to the metal-Mott insulator boundary
The alkali fullerides, A(3)C(60) (A = alkali metal) are molecular superconductors that undergo a transition to a magnetic Mott-insulating state at large lattice parameters. However, although the size and the symmetry of the superconducting gap, Δ, are both crucial for the understanding of the pairing mechanism, they are currently unknown for superconducting fullerides close to the correlation-d...
